Forest Forest Schools East is an exciting initiative that supports the creation of Forest Schools in the East of England, giving children
in the region the opportunity to explore and learn in their local environment. Forest School East encourages and supports high
quality Forest Schools with full accredited Forest School Practitioners.
Over the past two years Forest School East has funded training and infrastructure for 36 Forest Schools in our region through a Forestry Commission Woodland Improvement (WIG) Challenge Fund. Forest School East is a successful partnership between the Forestry Commission and Green Light Trust which has enabled people to gain their Level 3 Practitioner Award. Numerous Forest Schools have been set up and have provided school children, youth groups, excluded children, special schools, transition groups (pupils who are identified as requiring extra support to prepare for Secondary School) and children with Special Educational Needs with the opportunity to experience Forest School sessions. Forest School East is supported by the Forestry Commission, Green Light Trust and is noted in the East of England Regional Assembly's Regional Social Strategy, the Regional Woodland Strategy and the Government Office of the East of England, Sustainable Schools report.
